Description

This natural stone cladded house is situated on a large site at a quiet cul-de-sac near Kells Beach – overlooking Dingle Bay, Dingle Peninsula and the Blasket Islands at the horizon. “Nead Feannóige” the gaelic name of this charming place means “Crow’s Nest” as you already might have guessed. The house has an oil fired central heating system. However, for these moments when one needs some cosy warmth the livingroom features a lovely wood burning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped. The adjoining dining area has  a large table with four chairs. The built-in wardrobes of the bedrooms do provide ample storage for your belongings. The bathroom has a bath tub with a shower. There are sufficient number of towels, blankets and bed linen available free of charge. The open plan layout of kitchen, dining area and livingroom  allows nice views through the windows at the sea and the surrounding mountains while enjoying a typical Irish breakfast or some gorgeous sea food caught by the local fisherman in Kells. The fenced garden is ideal for kids to play or to watch the two friendly donkeys Fursey and Freya on the meadow.

Location

The house is situated in Roads, near the hamlet of Kells and about five kilometres off the famous Wild Atlantic Way, the “Ring of Kerry”. You feel the quietness sinking in the minute you leave the car with just the occasional tractor passing or the baaing of the sheep. The unobstructed view over Dingle Bay, Dingle Pensinsula and the Blasket Islands in the distance  is certainly breathtakingly beautiful. This rural area is free of pollution and light emission and hence part of the internationally recognised “Kerry Dark Sky Reserve”. In clear nights you will see a million more stars then anywhere else. Even the Milky Way shows itself quite a lot. In about 15 minutes by car you reach Caherciveen – a typical Irish Market Town with supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, doctors and shops. The local pub “Caiteen Baiters” and the “Golden Mile” with a convenience shop, a superb gift shop and a panorama restaurant are nearby. So is the clean Blue Flag Beach of Kells and Kells House with a Café, a Thai-Restaurant and the award winning subtropical garden with its well known giant tree ferns. If the mood takes you walking you can do so easily. There is a spur of the Kerry Way passing the house which gets you into the mountains or along the coast line. The rural roads make hiking and biking a pleasure.
