Location

The house is located in Roads/ Kells about four kilometers off the well-known Ring of Kerry, which is a section of the newly introduced “Wild Atlantic Way”. The area of Roads is part of the internationally recognised “Kerry Dark Sky Reserve” without any light polution but with millions of stars in clear nights. The near vicinity of the house offers ample possibilities for all kind of activities like walking along the coast line or over the Kerry Way through the mountains, cycling on quiet country lanes, swimming at the nearby beach or fishing off the rocks in Kells Harbour or exploring the many cultural sites of the Celts. The nearby Kells Subtropical Garden is also well worth seeing. There are several Golf Courses or links in Glenbeigh or in Waterville which are only a few minutes drive away.

Things to explore from the house:

• Sheep dog trial in Kells. Beside Caiteen Baiters Pub. (summer only)
• Rossbeigh Beach near Glenbeigh. Walk the dunes, swim or surf at the beach.
  Have a pint or some good food at the Rosspoint Restaurant & Bar.
• Ballaghisheen Pass. From Cahersiveen through Kerry Mountains to Glencar.
  Back via Caragh Lake.
• Wild Atlantic Way. From Cahersiveen via Waterville, Caherdaniel, Sneem to Kenmare.
  Back over Molls Gap to Killarney.
• Cahergall Stone Fort, Cuash Crom Harbor, Ballycarberry Castle.
  In Cahersiveen over the bridge at the White Elephant.
• Valentia Harbour Boat tours.
  Enjoy a boat trip in Valentia Harbour and around Beginish Island with kerryaquaterra.ie
• Valentia Island. From Renard Point by car ferry to Valentia Island.
  Visit the Slate Mine, Cromwell Point Lighthouse, Fogher Cliffs.
• Portmagee. Over the Valentia bridge to the fishing village of Portmagee.
  Boat trip to the Skelligs. (book in advance)
• Skellig Ring. In Portmagee follow the Ring to St. Finian’s Bay.
  Walk to the viewing platform of the Kerry Cliffs, visit the Chocolate Factory.
• Ballinskelligs. Follow the Skellig Ring to Ballinskelligs.
• Gap of Dunloe. Follow the “Ring of Kerry” for Killarney. Turn right before Killarney to the gap. 
• Killarney National Park, Lakes, Ross Castle, Muckross Abbey, Torc Waterfall, Molls Gap, Kenmare.
• Dingle Peninsula. From Dingle town over the Connor Pass.
  Back via the Slea Head Drive to Dingle Town.

In Off-Season not everything might be open or else in peak-season pretty busy. Enquire before you start.
